Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – God’s Word – Psalm 37:30-31 – His Feet Do Not Slip – Growing As Disciples

The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip. Psalm 37:30-31 (NIV)

Wise Words

I know that every word that comes from you is good. I know that every word that comes from you is wise. I have made hearing and putting your word into practice a priority in my life. I have set aside a daily time and place to meet with you in your word. It has been my delight to hear you speaking to me from your word. Your word has been molding and shaping my life. Your word has been making me able to know your thoughts and walk in your ways. Your word has been changing my heart and transforming my mind. Your word has given me a firm foundation on which I can stand. Your word has kept my feet from slipping. Your word has kept me on the path following you. Your word has been my counselor and guide. Your word has kept me from running ahead of you or lagging behind you. Your word has kept me from wandering away from you. I have hidden your word in my heart.

There is more work that I want to do in you with my word. What do you have in mind? I want my word to make you wise. I want my word to make you just. My word will fill you with my wisdom. My word will make you able to speak what is true and right and just. I want my word to speak to you, in you and through you. My word will enable you to be a bright and shining witness for me in the world. When you open your mouth, I want my words of wisdom to come. I want you and others to know that I am speaking into and through your life. I want the words that come out of your mouth to be worth listening to because they will have come through me. Would you like me to speak in and through your life? Would you like me to help you to think and say and do what is true and right and just? Yes, I want to think and say and do what is wise and true and right and just. How can this become true in my heart and mind and life? Keep on meeting with me in my word. Keep on listening to all that I have to say to you. Keep on putting my words into practice. Yes Lord, I will. That will be very good.

Father, your words are continually in my heart and on my mind. Mold and shape my life with your word. Help me to speak your words of wisdom and offer your wise counsel to others. Thank you for helping me to walk justly as you protect my feet from slipping. Amen
