But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13 (ESV)

My Child

You are my child. I have called you by name. I brought you to myself. You were lost and without hope in the world. I pursued you. I sought you out. I rescued you from a life without me. You were walking on a path away from me. You were living a sin-filled, bruised and battered and broken life. You were stuck in the muck and mire of what was your life without me. You heard my call. You cried out to me. You called on my name. You asked for my help. Yes, I did. I was discouraged and defeated. My life was a mess. I was lost and empty. I was at the end of my rope. Someway, somewhere, seeds of hope were planted in my life. Somehow, when I was desperate, I knew who would answer my cry. I knew that I could cry out to you. You would hear my call. You would answer my plea. You would rescue me, that is what I knew somewhere deep down in the depth of my soul. That’s good.

Were people praying for me? Did you want to make me to be a part of your family? Did you want to be able to call me your child? Was it in your plan that I would come to love and follow and serve you? How long did you have your eye on me? How long had you been pursing me? How long was it in your plan that I would come to know you? When did you put in my heart and mind that I could cry out to you and ask for your help? You have a lot of questions. My eye has never not been on you. It has always been my plan that you would come to know, love, follow and serve me. I have always wanted you to be a part of my family. I have always wanted to call you my child. A host of people had been praying for you. There was rejoicing in heaven on the day that came to believe in me. Heaven was filled with joy when you received me into your life.  

You have been born again. My Holy Spirit lives and dwells inside of you. You have a completely new life to live in me. You are my child. You are my follower. I am your Savior. I am your Lord. I will lead you through life. Every day, you will follow and serve me. Every day, I will be molding and shaping your life. Every day, you will know my will and walk in my ways. Every day, you will become more like me. You will live the life that I have called you to live. Yes, I will. That is the desire that fills my heart and mind and life. That is very good.

Lord, thank you for calling me to come to you. You made it so I could believe in you and receive you into my life. Help me to live every day of my life as your son. Help me to think your thoughts and walk in your ways. Use my life fully as I live it with and for you. Amen
