What do you have that you have not received from me? I don’t own anything that I haven’t received from you. Every good gift that I have has come from you. You have given me so much. You have richly blessed my life. I am thankful and grateful for all that you have given to me. That’s good.

What will you take with you from this life into your eternal life with me? There is not one worldly possession that I will take with me from this life. Would you then agree that you are not the real and true owner of what you currently possess?  That’s for certain. I am just a steward of everything you have given me in this life. So, there is no worldly possession from this life that is worth all your time and effort to seek to possess? There is no good reason for you to be on a mission to store up treasures for yourself in this life? No, there is not. I am like a visitor to this life. I am quickly passing through this life. I must not try to hang on to the worldly possessions of this life. No, you must not. If I let myself be on a mission to acquire the things of this world, I will surely not live the life that you are calling me to live. No, you would not. Such a life would entangle me in a constant and ongoing struggle and striving for more. I would not hear your voice over my own worldly efforts. I would not go where you wanted to guide me. I would not do what you asked of me. I would not accomplish your purposes. I would not fulfill your plans. No, you would not.

What do you think I want you to do with all I have given to you? I think you want me to share with others all the time and talent and resources, you have given to me. You want me to share all I have been given with others in need. You have richly blessed my life. You have richly blessed me so I can be a blessing to others. You want me to use what I have been given to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Will you share your time and talent and resources with others who are in need? Will you generously give to others just as I have generously given to you? Yes Lord, I will. That will be very good.

Lord, once I thought that all I owned was mine to possess. I now see that all I thought I owned is really yours. I now know that it is your intent for me to love others by giving away my time, talent and resources to those in need. I will welcomely do that. Amen
