Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Becoming Like Christ – Day 122 – 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 – Being Transformed Into His Likeness- Growing As Disciples

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (NIV)

In Your Presence

I know that you are changing me. You are doing a work in me that I couldn’t do for myself. What kind of work am I doing in you? I know day by day you are making me to be more like you. You think so? I know so. That’s good. You are right, I am making you to be more and more like me.  How am I making you to be more like me? You are drawing me to yourself. You are giving me this insatiable hunger for more of you. I want to draw near to you. There is no place I would rather be than in your presence. There is nothing I would rather do than give praise and honor and glory and worship to you. I have learned one thing, What’s that? I cannot be in your presence and remain unchanged. In your presence you are changing my heart. In your presence you are transforming my mind. You are giving me thoughts to think. You are giving me new words to speak. You are giving me new deeds to do. I am not the person I was yesterday. I am not the person I will be tomorrow. You are molding and shaping my life every day as I continue to remain in your presence. Yes, I am. You have learned a very important lesson. I am so grateful. I am so thankful. I am so humbled. I don’t know how to thank you enough for all the work have been, are doing and will do in and through me as I continue to remain in your presence. I am thankful beyond what my words can express. That is very good.

There is one thing else I have learned. What’s that? As I remain in your presence you are allowing me to bring glory to your name. You are making me able to shine brightly as a witness for you in the world. You are allowing me to bear fruit for your kingdom. How so? Others are being drawn to you because your life is being lived out in and through me. This is not to my credit. This is not some work that I have done. No, it is you that are using me as your instrument. I said that there is no place I would rather be than in your presence. Yes, you did. I can also say that there is nothing I would rather do than serve you. Use my life to fulfill your purposes and accomplish your plans. Yes, I will. You can be certain of that. Thank you, Lord.

Lord, thank you for drawing me to yourself. You have turned my life around. It is now my joy to live my life with and for you. There is no place I would rather be than in your presence. Keep on making me more like you as I continue to remain in your presence. Amen

Reflect The Lord’s Glory

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Knowing God - 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 - Reflect The Lord's Glory - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Knowing God – 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 – Reflect The Lord’s Glory – Growing As Disciples

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Reflect

What is it that you most want in all of life? If you could ask me for one thing what would it be? That may seem like a hard question. I think that I have certainly discovered what I wouldn’t ask for.  I’m positive that I know what I would ask for. I am just as certain that you will answer my request. This sounds very interesting. I would like to hear what you have to say. Over the course of my life I might have made a dozen different requests in answer to your question.  Like what? At one time I would have said that I wanted to be rich. At another time I might have wanted to be powerful or even famous. I’m also embarrassed to say that at times I would have wished to live in complete comfort and have every pleasure. At a minimum I have certainly wanted to live a life that would be envied and admired. Sometimes my desires have not been completely self-serving. How so? I have wanted to be a great leader and gifted servant that would accomplish great things for the benefit of mankind. These are all things that you have wanted in the past? That’s right. What about now? Do you really know what you want? Yes, I do without any hesitation. Yes, I do know what I want without a doubt. Tell me what you want to ask of me.

What I want from you is one thing that unfolds into many different parts. Are you sure that you aren’t really trying to ask for many different things? No, I don’t think so. I’m listening. I want to know you. That might seem like a small request to some. Not to me. I don’t want to know about you. I want to know you. I don’t want to know you just a little bit. I want to know you well. I want to know you intimately. That sounds like one request to me. There is more. Like what? Knowing you would lead to me loving you. I want to love you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. Again, I don’t want to love you just a little bit. I want to love you with all that is within me. Loving me is a part of knowing me. I thought so too. There is more. Like what?  If I know and love you I will also become like you. I want to become like you in all that I think, say and do. I want to know your thoughts. I want to walk in your ways. I want to do your will. Becoming like me is a part of loving and knowing me. I’m so glad to hear that. There is more isn’t there? Yes, there is more. If I know and love you and become like you I will reflect your glory. Yes, that’s right. As I reflect your glory I would bear fruit for your kingdom and glory. What do you mean by that? As I reflect your glory people would see you living in me.  As I reflect your glory people would be drawn to you. Yes, they would. So my one request from you is that I would know you and love you and become like you and reflect your glory so that people will be drawn to you through my life. That is a very good request. That is the one thing that I am asking of you. You are right about one thing. What’s that? I will hear and answer this request of yours.

Lord, I have come to you and turned my life over to you. You have set me free to live the life you have given me to live. Do your work in me. Make me to be like you. Make it so I am able to reflect your glory so that others will be drawn to you. Amen

We Are Changed

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Promises - Day 248 - 2 Corinthians 3:16-18- We Are Changed - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Promises – Day 248 – 2 Corinthians 3:16-18- We Are Changed – Growing As Disciples

But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (NLT)

You Will Be Changed

That is certain. Have no doubts about that. What is certain? About what should I have no doubts? You will be changed. You will become like me. I will be changing your heart. I will be transforming your mind. I will be guiding your life. In the past, perhaps you have thought that you will be changed in an instant when you see me face to face. Is there anything wrong or incorrect with that thought? No, that thought is completely correct. But with you, that thought has been incomplete. How so? On the day that you turned your life over to me, and I became your Savior and Lord, I began changing your heart, transforming you mind, and guiding your life. My work began on that day and has and will continue until the day you come to meet me face to face. Then you will be completely changed. Then my work will be complete. I get that. What I don’t want you to forget, misunderstand, or minimize, is that my work in you in the here and now is critically important. How so? You have often said that you want to bear fruit for my kingdom. You have often said that you want to bring glory to my name. You have often said that you want to store up treasure in heaven with me. You want to shine brightly for me in the darkness of this world. You have even gone so far as to say that you want to shine like a star in the universe for me, so that a multitude will be drawn to me through the witness of your life. Yes, I have said all these things. I would have no greater joy than for all of them to become true of the life I live with and for you. Yes, I know that to be true of you. Those are high and lofty desires. Those are worthy goals. None of these will become true unless I change your heart, transform your mind, and guide your life. None of these will become true unless I transform you into my likeness. You must become like me in the here and now. You must think, and speak, and act like me. Your thoughts, and words, and actions must be like mine. That is why my work in you now is critically important. Well, I do welcome you to do your work in me, with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. Yes, I will, you can be certain, that you will be changed. Thank you, Lord.

Lord, you are my Savior and Lord. I will love and follow and serve you. Do your work in and through me. Transform me into your likeness. Change my thoughts, words, and actions. Make me like you. Use me to reflect your glory in the darkness of this world. Amen
