Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Miracles – 2 Kings 6:12 – The Very Words – Growing As Disciples

“None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.” 2 Kings 6:12 (NIV)

I Need Your Help

I need your help. That’s good to hear. How do you need my help? I lack wisdom. How so? I need your insight and understanding. Why is that? Without your wisdom I am likely to make stupid mistakes and take large missteps. I don’t want to waste time and effort. I don’t want to wander through life. I don’t want to walk a crooked path from one futile thing to another. I’m not asking for your wisdom, insight and understanding for my benefit. Although, I do know that I will benefit greatly by receiving your wisdom, insight and understanding. Yes, you will. But, I’m asking for your wisdom, insight and understanding so that I can know and do your will. I want to go where you guide me. I want to do what you ask of me. That is very good.

You do have a ready source of my wisdom, insight and understanding that I have already made readily available to you. Yes, I know. You have given me your word. That is why I am meeting with you every day in your word. I so desperately want your wisdom, insight and understand. I can see that in you. What then, is your problem? What is your need? Sometimes, I am very slow to understand. Sometimes, I am very dense. That is a helpful admission on your part. It is a very good thing that you are admitting your need. It is a very good thing for you to know and acknowledge that you need my help. I will never turn you away when you ask for my help. You can never go wrong by coming to me to ask me for my help. You can never fail to benefit by meeting with me in prayer so you can hear from me. It is my joy and pleasure to give you the wisdom and insight and understanding that you will need as you love, follow and serve me. That is what I thought. That is what I believe. That is what I know. I can come to you and ask for your help. Yes, you can. Here I am now. Give me all the wisdom and insight and understanding I will need as I follow you today. That is my prayer. I will hear and answer that prayer. Thank you, Lord.

Lord, I do not know what I need to know. I don’t have all the wisdom, insight and understanding I need. Thank you, that you will give me the wisdom, insight and understanding I will need as I love, follow and serve you. I will rely on you. I will ask for your help. Amen
