Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31 (ESV)
Power Failure
I did not make you to be self-reliant. You were not created to be self-sufficient. That message should come as no surprise to you. Your lack of energy, power and strength should get your attention. Listen to what your own body is saying to you. What would that be? You tell me. My independence and self-reliance does not work. Relying on my own energy power and strength to do what you have given me to do will never work. I cannot do what you have called me to do without your help. No you cannot.
It is a good thing to come to me. I want to revive and refresh and restore your life. I will make you able to do what I have called you to do for me. I want you to live in a close and intimate relationship with me. Would you come to me if you did not need my help? Would you rely on me if you did not need my power and strength? Don’t say that you would. We both know that would not be true. I know that what you are saying is true.
Will you come to me? Will you rest in my presence? Will you allow me to renew your life? Do you want me to make you able to run even though you have been weary? Do you want to soar on the wind like an eagle? Do you want me to make you able to do all that I have called you to do for me? Yes Lord, revive and refresh and renew my life. I will come to you. I will set aside a time and a place to meet with you. I will rest in your presence. I will live in a close and intimate relationship with you. You are my God. I am your child. I know that you have good things in store for me. I will allow you to do your work in and through my life. I know that you will make me able to do all that you have called me to do for you. I know that you will do in and through me far more than I could have asked for, hope for or even imagined. No longer will I rely on myself. No longer will I work under my own power. Now, I will rely on you. You will make me able. Yes, I will.
Lord, I have been weary. I have been worn out. I am tired and depleted. All my energy is gone. Forgive me. I have not made waiting on you to be the daily pattern and rhythm of my life. Renew, revive, restore and strengthen my life as I come to wait on you. Amen
