Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Becoming Like Christ – Day 165 – Hebrews 11:6 – Those Who Earnestly Seek Him – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Seek You

There is something that I know about you. What’s that? You put this passionate desire within me to seek you with all my heart. What makes you think so? This desire certainly did not originate with me. I would have never been able to predict that one day I would have this desire in me. I can take no credit for this desire being in me. What can you do? I can give you all my thanks and praise to you for putting this desire in me. Why is that? You could have given me no greater gift than the desire to seek you with all my heart. Really? Yes, really. What makes you say that? You are helping me to come to know and love and follow and serve you as I earnestly seek you with all my heart. You are transforming the thoughts of my mind, words of my mouth and the actions of my life as I earnestly seek you with all my heart. You are guarding and guiding the entire course of my life as I earnestly seek you with all my heart. You are helping me to live a life that is good and right and pleasing to you as I seek you with all my heart. You are helping me to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name as I earnestly seek you with all my heart. Could there be any greater gift than to be made able to live the life you have called me to live? Are you asking me that question? I’m not sure. But I will tell you one thing. What’s that? I can think of no better gift or greater reward of seeking you than to be made able to know and love and follow and serve you. I certainly don’t desire anything more. I certainly don’t want anything less. Although I do have a request to make. What’s that? Keep on fanning the flame of my desire for you. Keep on making me passionate in my desire to live my life with and for you. Keep your hand on me.  Keep on stirring me up for you. Keep me burning white hot for you. Help me to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Use me according to your purposes and plans. I am at your service. I will hear and answer these prayers and this desire of yours. I will help you to be white hot for me. Thank you, Lord.

Lord, you have put a passionate desire in my heart to seek you. Fan the flame of my desire. Help me to seek you at all times. Help me to live a life that is fully devoted to you. Reward my efforts by helping me to come to know and love and follow and serve you. Amen

He Rewards Those Who Earnestly Seek Him

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - The Prayer Filled Life - Day 103 - Hebrews 11-6 - He Rewards Those Who Earnestly Seek Him - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – The Prayer Filled Life – Day 103 – Hebrews 11-6 – He Rewards Those Who Earnestly Seek Him – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Faith In Me

What does it mean for you to have faith in me? How is your faith in me guiding the course of your life? How are your thoughts and words and actions different because you are placing all your faith in me? How have your opinions, values, and priorities changed because you believe in me and are seeking me with all your heart? There is not one area of my life that has not been dramatically transformed since the day I came to believe in you and accept you as my Savior and Lord. How so? I left my old sinful life in the world so that I could begin to love and follow and serve you with all my heart. I have thrown off anything and everything that has hindered me from living my life with and for you. Am I doing this perfectly? No, not hardly. But my heart and mind and life are focused on you. I am no longer pursuing what this world offers. I am pursuing you. I am fully devoted to you. I am listening attentively to you. I am following you to where you lead me. I am doing whatever you ask of me. Am I in this effort alone? Absolutely not. Does my success or failure in seeking you depend entirely on me? Certainly not. You are with me to help me. You are working in me, for me, and though me. You are using your word to change my heart, transform my mind, and guide my life. You are helping me to think your thoughts. You are making me able to speak your words. You are guiding me to take your actions. You are the one who is molding and shaping me into the person you want me to become. Your hand is on me to help me to live the life you have called me to live. Now, there is no place I would rather be than in your presence. Now, there is nothing I would rather do than your will. It is very good that you know that I am with you to help you. It is very good that you know that I am guarding and guiding your life. It is very good that you know that I will keep on working in you, for you, and through you as you keep on placing all your faith in me as you seek me with all your heart. It is my hope and desire and plan to live my life in an intimate relationship with you. Now, I know that nothing could be more rewarding than living my life with and for you. Keep on seeking me. Keep on following me. Keep on living your life with and for me. Yes Lord, I will. That will be very good.

Lord, I will earnestly seek you. I will seek you with everything that is within me. I will seek you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I will follow you to where you lead me. I will do whatever you ask of me. I will live my life with and for you. Amen

Earnestly Seek Him

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Promises - Day 74 - Hebrews 11:6 - Earnestly Seek Him - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Promises – Day 74 – Hebrews 11:6 – Earnestly Seek Him – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Rewards

In everything I think, say and do I want to please you. Sometimes I have a hard time believing that it would be possible for me to please you. Why is that? You are perfect. You are Holy. I am imperfect. I am a sinner. If that were completely true then you are right, it would be impossible for you to please me. What isn’t completely true about what I said? You tell me. I am positive that you are perfect and holy. Yes, I am, that is not where you made a mistake. I also said that I am imperfect and I am also a sinner. Yes you did, what is wrong about that statement? Well, I have been forgiven and cleansed of all my unrighteousness. Yes, that’s right and what else? I have been made holy and perfect in your Son, Jesus Christ. His righteousness is now my righteousness. He has made me pure and holy in your sight. Yes, that is what He has done for you. So, now I can do what pleases you, is that correct? Yes, that is correct. Do you have faith to believe this? Yes, I believe that I can now do what pleases you. Yes, you can please me. Yes you do please me.

What do you think pleases me? I’m not positive. What must you do if you want to please me? Now, that I do know. If I want to please you I know that I must earnestly seek you. What does it mean to earnestly seek me?  I earnestly seek you with all my heart and mind and soul. Everything that is within me desires to seek you. The focus of all my attention is on seeking you. There is nothing I would rather do than seek you. There is no place that I would rather be than in your presence. Why is it that you are so earnest in your desire to seek me? I love you with all my heart and mind and soul. You have made me. You have saved me. You have forgiven me. You are molding and shaping me. You have made me to be your child. You are my Father. Yes, I am and all that is within me loves you. You have learned to love me because I have first loved you. Yes, of that I am positive.

What will happen to you as you earnestly seek me? I will know you. I will know your will and your ways. I will know for sure what you are calling me to do for you. You will help me to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. I will go where you guide me and do what you ask of me. Then I will know and do what is pleasing to you. Yes, you will.

What will you receive from me as you earnestly seek me and do what pleases me? You will reward me. I’m not sure what your rewards will look like. It is rewarding enough to be called your child. It is rewarding enough to be used by you. It is rewarding enough to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. It is rewarding enough to know that one day I will come to live forever in heaven with you. Yes, you will. Then you will be fully rewarded for earnestly seeking me.

Father, I do believe in and love you with all my heart and mind and soul. I am earnestly seeking you with all that is within me. It is my desire to live the life Christ has secured for me with and for you. Thank you for rewarding me. Amen

Earnestly Seek Him

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Prayer - Hebrews 11:6 - Earnestly Seek Him - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Prayer – Hebrews 11:6 – Earnestly Seek Him – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Pleasing God

Do you want to live a life that is pleasing to me? Yes, I want to live a life that is pleasing to you. The strongest desire of my heart is that I will live a life that is pleasing to you. There is nothing that I want more than to live a life that is pleasing to you. I have no greater pursuit in life than to live a life that is pleasing to you. How can I live a life that is pleasing to you? That is a very good question. That is a question to which you need a very clear answer that you understand completely. A vague answer to that question will not due. You must not leave that question until it has been fully answered and completely understood. How you answer that question will guide the entire course of your life. How you answer that question will determine the thoughts of your mind, words of your mouth, deeds of your life and prayers of your heart. You don’t want to come up with the wrong answer to that question. What is the answer to that question. You tell me.

I will give you my answer. I’m listening. If I want to please you I must believe that you exist. There is no possibility of pleasing you if I don’t believe that you exist. Who would try to please someone who did not exist? No one, I’m sure. It is not enough to simply say with my words, that I believe that you exist. I must demonstrate with my life that I believe that you exist. How so? I must earnestly seek you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I must come to rely on you rather than on myself. If I rely on myself that will be a sign that I don’t really believe that you exist. What else? I must believe that you reward those who earnestly seek you. How do I reward those who earnestly seek me? You hear and answer the prayers of those who earnestly seek you. What will you do if you believe that I exist and that I will reward those who earnestly seek me? I will meet with you in prayer. I will live my life in an ongoing dialogue of prayer with you. I will listen to you. I will follow your guidance. I will receive your instruction. What else? I will fervently make all my prayers know to you. I will believe that you will hear and answer all my prayers. That will be very good. You have answered well. Do these things and you will certainly live a life that is pleasing to me.

Heavenly Father, I do believe that you exist. I want to live a life that is fully pleasing to you. I will come to you. I will earnestly seek you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I know that you are God and that you will hear and answer my prayers. Amen

He Rewards

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - God The Father - Hebrews 11:6 - He Rewards - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – God The Father – Hebrews 11:6 – He Rewards – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Seek You Earnestly

That is what I want to do. That is what I am doing. That is what I will continue to do. What that? I will seek you earnestly with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I have no stronger desire. I have no clearer aim. I have no higher priority. Why is that? You have put this fire within me. You have given me this desire. You have filled me with this passion. What is it you hope to gain? I hope to know and love and follow and serve you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I want to live in an intimate relationship with you. I want to hear your voice. I want to go where you guide me. I want to do what you ask of me. I want to live my life with and for you. I want to accomplish your purposes and fulfill your plans. I want to fully live the life that you have called me to live. That is very good.

I want to say a few more things. I’m listening. I am asking that you fan this flame of desire within me. I am asking that you cause me to burn white hot for you. I want you to set me on fire to serve you. Give me your boldness. Fill me with your power. Work in and through my life. Help me to shine brightly as your witness in the world. Help me to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Make me able to accomplish your purposes and fulfill your plans. Open my eyes and ears. I want to see you. I want to hear you. Open my mouth. I want to speak for you. Use my life to the fullest. Don’t let anything go to waste. These are my thoughts. These are my prayers. I will hear and answer these thoughts and prayers of yours.

One more thing. What’s that? I want no more reward than to know that I have gone and done your will. I want no more reward than to hear you one day say, from heaven as we look back over my life, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  Only you can make me faithful. Only you can cause me to be fruitful. Only you can make me able to know and do your will. Work in and through my life for your praise and honor and glory. Yes, I will.

Heavenly Father, thank you for drawing me to yourself. It is you that has given me faith in you and your son Jesus Christ. Help me to continue to seek you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength so that I will know you and the life you want me to live. Amen

Earnestly Seek Him

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Identity - Hebrews 11:1,6 - Earnestly Seek Him - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Identity – Hebrews 11:1,6 – Earnestly Seek Him – Growing As Disciples

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Seek Him

Here I am Lord. It’s me again. I’m here to meet with you. I’m in this sacred place. It is our special time. There is no place I would rather be than in your presence. There is nothing I would rather do than seek you with all my heart. I want to know you intimately. I want to follow you closely. I want to do your will. I want to live in ways that please you. So, I have stopped all my activity. My heart and mind and life are focused on you. What do you want to say to me? What do you want to show me? What do you want to do in me? What do you want to do for me? What do you want to do through me? I am excited to be on my walk of faith in you. I believe in you. I trust you. I am relying on you. That is very good.

Thank you for all the rewards you have brought into my life as I have been earnestly seeking you with all my heart. What rewards have I brought into your life as you have earnestly sought me? You have healed my bruised and battered and broken life as I rested in your presence. You have refreshed me. You have revived me. You have restored me. You have guarded and guided me as I have followed you. As I have meditated on your word, you have been changing my heart and transforming my mind. You have given me new thoughts to think, words to speak and deeds to do. You have made me able to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. You have made me able to shine brightly as your witness in the world. But, best of all you are helping me to come to know you. I love you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. You have drawn near to me as I have drawn near to you. Living and walking in a love relationship with you has become the joy of my life. That is very good.

What would you like to ask of me? I want to know you better. I want to draw nearer. I want to go deeper. I want to love you more intensely. I want to shine more brightly for you. I want to be used more fully by you. I want to bear more fruit for you kingdom and bring more glory to your name. Do you believe that I will hear and answers these prayers of yours? Yes, I do. That is very good.

Father, it is my priority and plan to seek you with all my heart. I want to know you intimately. I want to follow you closely. I want to accomplish the purpose and plan you have for my life. I want to fully live in ways that please you. Thank you for these desires. Amen

Without Faith

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Faith - Hebrews 11:6 - Without Faith - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Faith – Hebrews 11:6 – Without Faith – Growing As Disciples

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.   Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Earnestly

Do you want to please me? Yes, I want to please you. How can I please you? You cannot please me with your best self-effort. You cannot please me by your own accomplishments. You cannot please me with self-sacrifices. There is only one way that you please me. How is that? You only please me by coming to me.  You can only please me by living in an intimate relationship with me. I am your God and Father. You are my child. I made you to live in fellowship with me. I have no doubt about that. It is the desire of my heart to know you. I want to love you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. These desires, this hope and dream does not come from me. You placed these desires and hopes and dreams in my heart. Yes, I did.

What will you do because you believe in me? What will you do because you want to come to me? What will you do because you want to live in an intimate relationship with me? I will seek you with all my heart. What will that look like? I will set aside a time and a place to meet with you. I will live my life in a constant dialogue with you. I will listen attentively to you. I will speak earnestly with you. I will set my hope and heart and mind and life on you. I will make meeting with you in your word a daily priority in my life. I will allow you to use your word to mold and shape my life. I will allow your word to help me to know and strengthen me to do your will. That will be very good.

What reward will there be in earnestly seeking me with all your heart? Knowing and loving you with all my heart will be my reward. Living and walking in your presence will be my reward. Following and obeying you will be my reward. Knowing that I am doing what is pleasing to you will be my reward. Bearing fruit for your kingdom and bringing glory to your name will be my reward. One day when I come to live forever in heaven with you and hear you say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”, will be my reward. Yes, it will. I’m looking forward to that day. That is very good.

Lord, I do believe in you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I will come to you. I will make earnestly seeking you the pursuit of my life. I know without a doubt that as I seek you I will find you. Grow my faith in you as I love, follow and serve you. Amen
