Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Miracles – Luke 5:13 – I Am Willing – Growing As Disciples

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him. Luke 5:13 (NIV)

Willing

I am glad that you are willing to heal me. I am glad that you are willing to cleanse me. I am glad that you are willing to revive, refresh and restore me. I am glad that you are for me. You hear and answer my prayers. You have richly blessed my life. My prayers do not fall on deaf ears. I can make known to you what I want and need. You are always willing to help me. Yes, I am.

Is there a lesson here for you to learn? What is that? You tell me. I’m not sure what you mean. Since I am willing to help you with whatever you need, what must you do? I get it. I understand. Since you are willing to help me with what I need, I must learn to ask you for what I need. Why is that? Do I not know what you need? Must you tell me what you need for me to know what you need? Am I not observant? Can I not hear? Can I not see? Am I not listening? Am I not watching? Do I not know your thoughts even before you think them? Can I not see what you need even when you cannot? You know what I want and need even before I do. You hear everything. You see everything. Nothing escapes your notice. That’s right.

Why must you learn to ask me for what I need? You want me to live in an intimate relationship with you. My biggest need is to come to know you. My biggest need is to come to rely on you. My biggest need is to live and walk with you everyday throughout my entire life. That’s right. You want me to live in a constant dialogue of prayer with you. You want to speak to me. You want me to hear from you. You want to guard and guide my life. You want me to follow and serve you. You want me to go where you guide me. You want me to do what you ask of me. You want to work in and through my life. I can have none of these things unless I learn to come to you in prayer. The doorway to all you want to give me is me coming to ask you for what I need. That is right. That is true. That is good. Will you come to ask me for all that you need? Yes, I will. That will be very good.

Lord, thank you that I am never unclean and unpresentable to you. In fact, you are the only one that can cleanse my life. You are the one who reached out to touch and heal me. Now, I want to go and tell others about your kindness, mercy and love. Amen

Filled With Compassion

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - Life In Christ - Mark 1:40-42 - Filled With Compassion - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Life In Christ – Mark 1:40-42 – Filled With Compassion – Growing As Disciples

A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured. Mark 1:40-42 (NIV)

Am I Healthy?

Am I healthy? Am I whole? Sometimes, I think I am. Sometimes, I know I am not. Only you really know when and where and why and how I need to be healed. I only have one alternative. I only have one course. I only have one choice. What’s that? I will come to you. You are the great physician. I am under your care. I am opening up myself to you. I welcome you to inspect my life. I invite you to put me under your close examination. I want nothing to be hidden from you. I want you to heal me. I want you to bring your health and healing and wholeness into every corner of my life. That’s good.

How do you think I will heal you? I’m not sure. I do know a few things for certain. What’s that? It is your desire to heal me. It is your plan to heal me. You want me to be completely healthy and whole in you. Yes, I do. What else? You want me to come to you to ask you for my healing. Why is that? You want me to come to rely on you for what I need. You don’t want me to be self-sufficient or self-reliant. That wouldn’t work anyhow. I do not have all I need. I am not all I need. You want to give me what I need. You want to supply what I am lacking. Yes, I do. There is more. What else? You want me to know your kindness, mercy and love. You want me to know that you are a giver of good gifts. Yes, I do. There is no better gift than to know that your loving hand of healing is on my life. There is no greater joy than to know that you are with me to help me. That’s true. That’s right.

Where will you be if you want me to heal you? In your presence I will be healed. In your presence I will be made healthy. In your presence I will be made whole. The nearer I draw near to you, the farther sickness and brokenness and unhealthiness will be driven from my life. You will change me. You will transform me. You will fill me full of your health as I rest in your presence. Yes, I will. You can be certain of that. I know and I am so thankful. Heal me Lord. Yes, I will.

Lord, sometimes I don’t even know where my life needs healing. Many times, I have thought I was completely healthy and whole and then I see that I am not. Lay your hand on me; touch my life so I can receive your complete healing in every corner of my life. Amen
