Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Promises – Day 63 – Isaiah 64:4-5 – Wait For Him – Growing As Disciples
Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved? Isaiah 64:4-5 (NIV)
Walk In My Ways
Do you want to know me? Do you want to walk in my ways? Do you want to live the life of salvation that I have given you to live? Yes, I want to know you. Yes, I want to walk in your ways. Yes, I want to live the life of salvation you have given me to live. For too long, I have done my own thing. For too long, I have pursued my own plans. For too long, I have lived my own life. Now, I will turn my life over to you. Now, I will ask for your forgiveness and cleansing. Now, I will receive your salvation. You will forgive my sin. You will cleanse my unrighteousness. You will give me a completely new life to live. You will help me to live the life of salvation you have given me to live. Yes, I will do this for you. Yes, you will come to know me. Yes, you will walk in my ways. Wait for me. Yes Lord, I will wait for you. That will be very good.
What will it look like for you to wait for me? I will come to meet with you. I will come to listen to you. I will come to know you. What else? I will come to love you. I will come to follow and serve you. Moment by moment, day by day, month by month, and year by year, I will live in an intimate relationship with you. You will guide me to where you want me to go. You will give me what you want me to do. You will help me to live my life with and for you. Yes, I will do this for you.
What will happen as you wait for me? You will act. You will make your will and your ways known to me. You will guide me on the path. You will lead me through life. You will help me to fulfill your purposes and accomplish your plans. You will work in and through me. You will empower me to know and do your will. You will allow me to shine brightly for you in the darkness of this world. You will make me able to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Yes, I will do this for you. Will you wait for me? Yes Lord, I will. That will be very good.
Lord, no longer will I pursue my own ways. No, I will wait on you. I come to you. I will listen to you. I will watch for you to act. Why will I do this? I want to know you. I want to walk in your ways. Help me to live the life of salvation you have given me to live. Amen
