Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Rhythms – Galatians 6:7-10 – Sow – Reap – Growing As Disciples

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:7-10 (NIV)

At The Proper Time

I want to reap a rich harvest for your kingdom. I want to bring glory to your name. I have stopped sowing to my flesh. I have stopped sowing to my sinful nature. I have left that life behind. I am done living a life that is filled with death and destruction. I have had enough of that. I want you and the life that you have called me to live. I want to know and do your will. That’s good.

I will keep on sowing to please the Holy Spirit. I will keep on doing what you have given me to do for you. I will go wherever you guide me. I will do whatever you ask of me. I am completely at your disposal. I am fully at your service. I will ask you for one thing right now. What’s that? I ask you to strengthen me. I ask you to keep me going. Help me to not grow weary. Help me to not wear out. Let me make one thing clear to you. What’s that? You cannot serve me with your own strength. On your own you will never be able to do what I will ask you to do for me. Why is that? I want you to come to rely on me. I will be with you. I will help you. I will give you strength. I will keep you going. I will help you to not grow weary. I will help you to not wear out. You will come into my presence. I will renew you. I will refresh you. I will revive you. You will look back over your life and marvel at what I have been able to do in and through you. You will know without a doubt that I have made you able to bear a rich harvest for my kingdom. You will know for certain that I have helped you to bring glory to my name. Keep on doing the good things that I give you to do for me. Yes Lord, I will. At the proper time you will bear a rich harvest for me. The harvest will be richer than you could have hoped for or imagined. That’s what I want to do for you.

Lord, I will not sow to my sinful nature. Instead, I will keep on doing the good things you give me to do for you. I will not grow weary. I will not become tired. I will keep sowing to please the Holy Spirit so I will reap a rich harvest for your kingdom. Amen
