Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Colossians 4:2-4 (ESV)
Perspective
That is exactly what I need. What do you need? I need perspective. I don’t need just any perspective. I don’t need my perspective. I don’t need the world’s perspective. I need your perspective. Why do you need my perspective? I can’t see clearly without your perspective. Without your perspective, I will not be able to know and do your will. Without your perspective, I will not be able to join you in the work you are doing in the world all around me. If I follow my own perspective or the world’s perspective, I will waste time and talent and resources that could be used to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. If I follow my perspective, I will never see the doors of opportunity you are opening for me to minister to others. Without, your perspective I can do nothing that will last for all eternity. I am counting on your perspective to guide the course of my life. I hoping that your perspective will form the thoughts of my mind, words of my mouth and the actions of my life. You have a very good understanding of why you need my perspective.
How will you gain my perspective? How will you think what I want you to think? How will you say what I want you to say? How will you act as I want you to act? Only by drawing near to you will any of my thinking and speaking and acting line up with your will and plan for my life. So, I will be earnest in prayer. I will keep on praying. I will keep on asking. I will keep on listening. I will keep on seeking you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I will live in an intimate relationship with you that remains watchful and thankful as I follow and serve you. That will be very good.
What will be on your heart as you pray your prayers to me? I will ask you to open doors of opportunity of me and others to be fruitful used by you. I will ask that your power will rest on me and others so that we will be able to boldly declare you to others so that they will also come to know and love and follow and serve you. That will be very good. You are asking and praying for what I will surely hear and answer. Thank you, Lord.
Lord, help me to be steadfast, watchful, and thankful in prayer. I want to be able to know and do your will. I want to see and join you in the work you are doing in the world around me. I want doors of opportunity for me and others to do fruitful ministry for you. Amen
