Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – 1 Corinthians 15:58 – Day 18 – Stand Firm – Growing As Disciples

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.                   1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

Go All Out

Go all out. Give yourself fully to my work. Don’t hesitate. Don’t hold back. Move forward with me. Follow me to where I lead you. Do all that I ask of you. Will you do this for me? Yes Lord, I will go all out to serve you. I will hold nothing in reserve. I will not hold back. I will not hesitate. I will not retreat. I will move forward with you. I know that you will give me the power and strength to do all that you are calling me to do for you. Yes, I will. I know that my labor for you will never be in vain. I know that it would be impossible for me to misspend my life in serving you. You will help me to bear an abundance of fruit for your kingdom. You will help me to bring glory to your name. Yes, I will. There is no place I would rather go than to where you are leading me. There is nothing I would rather do than all that what you ask of me. Why are you so willing to wholeheartedly serve me? I am willing to serve you not because I should or must. I am willing to serve you because I love you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. Doing anything less than an all-out effort or anything else than serving you has no appeal to me. I want to do what you want me to do for you. I want to know you. I want to walk in your ways. I can see that.

What makes you so certain? Why are you so sure that your life will never be misspent serving me? Why will nothing move you? Why will nothing prevent you from going all out to serve me? I know who you are. I know what you have done for me. Tell me who I am. Tell me what I have done for you. You are my Savior and Lord. You lived and died for me. You gave your all for me. Yes, I did. I want to give my all for you. I also know my future. What is your future? One day I will come to live forever in heaven with you. That’s right. I also know that you will want me to tell you what I have done with my life. You will want to see the fruit that I have born for your kingdom. You will want to see that I have brought glory to your name. You will want to tell me that I have done well as your good and faithful servant. Yes, I will. That is why I am going all out for you now. That is very good.

Lord, thank you for the certainty that one day I will come to live forever in heaven with you. Right now, in this life, I will go all out to serve you. I will not work only for the rewards of this life. I want to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Amen
