For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Plans For You
Do you believe that I have good plans prepared for you? Yes, I do. Do you believe that you have reason to hope in the future that I have planned for you? Yes, I do. Tell me what you think are the good plans I have prepared for you. Tell me the reason that you have hope in the future I have planned for you? Your plans for me have a past, present and future. Start with the past.
It is important that I never forget what you have already done for me. What have I done for you? You sent your Son into the world to die as payment for my sins. You rescued me from a life without you. You broke down the barrier of sin that separated me from you. You made it so I could live in a relationship with you. You showed me your love, forgiveness and mercy. You first loved me so that I want to love you. Yes, I have done all of this for you. You are my father. I am your child. Yes, you are.
What about the present, what am I doing for you now? What you are doing for me now started in the past. On the first day of my new relationship with you until now you have never stopped working in my life. You are molding and shaping me into the person you want me to be. How am I doing that? You are using countless ways to mold and shape my life. Name a few for me.
You are using your word to change my heart and transform my mind. You are helping me to think your thoughts and know your will. Yes, I am. You have given me places to go and things to do for you. You are helping me to bear fruit for your kingdom and your glory. You have shown me your will and your ways as I have followed and served you. Yes, I have. You have drawn me into prayer and worship. As I have been in your presence you have restored my soul. You have led me in paths of righteousness. I have hungered and thirsted for you and you have satisfied me with your goodness. You have renewed and refreshed my life. Yes, I have. Through every twist and turn and up and down in life you have shown me that I can place all my trust in you. You have given your peace in the midst of every storm. You have held on to my life and led me through every difficulty. Yes, I have. It has been your plan all along for me to know and love you with all my heart and soul and mind. There is nothing better than that. No, there is not.
But that is just the past and the present. I know that there is much more ahead. The future that lies ahead is beyond my imagination. Yes, it is. Heaven and eternal life with you awaits me. Yes, it does. Nothing could ever be better than that. Nothing could ever give me more hope or a brighter future than to know that I will live forever in heaven with you. That’s right. I look forward to that day with great anticipation and excitement. Me too.
Lord, I want your plan and future for my life rather than my own. You have given me hope. You unfold plans you have prepared for me. You have blessed my life as I have followed you. I look forward to my future home in heaven with you. Amen
