Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Promises – Day 60 – Romans 8:1-2 – Now No Condemnation – Growing As Disciples

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 (NIV)

Set Free

You have been set free. You have been forgiven of all your sins. There is no now condemnation for you because you are in Christ. Is that hard for you to believe and accept?  I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sin. I know that I have turned from sin and given my life to Him. I know that you have given me a new and completely different life in Him. You have changed my heart and are transforming my mind. I love you with all my heart and mind and soul. I now want to live in ways that please you. I have been born again to a new life in you. You haven’t really answered my question, at least not directly. I’m getting around to it. I have no doubt that I have been forgiven and cleansed of all my sins. I know that I have been adopted into your family. You love and accept me. Yes, I do. I will say that all that you have done for me is so wonderful. I am so thankful for all that you have done for me. I accept all that you have done for me. Is it hard for me to believe and accept that I have been forgiven of all my sins and that there will be no condemnation for me because of my sins? Yes, that was my question. If I said that this was hard to believe and accept it would not be because of doubt or a lack of faith. I have learned to believe that everything you say is completely true. I don’t doubt your word. I have complete faith and trust in you. What you have done for me is so wonderful. It seems like it will take my lifetime and maybe a good part of eternity to fully comprehend all that you have done for me. I will never be condemned for my sin. I will always be forgiven and cleansed of all my unrighteousness because of what Jesus Christ has done for me. This is a gift that I didn’t deserve and couldn’t earn. No, you could not. I believe and accept your gift. Help me to understand and live in all that you have done for me everyday as I follow you. Yes, I will. Let’s talk a little more about that.

There is a way that you can know for sure that you have been forgiven. There is a way that you can know that you will never again live under condemnation. How is that? My Spirit now lives inside of you. You are now being led and guided by my Spirit. You said that you want to do everything that pleases me. Yes, I did. That desire and your ability to live in ways that please me comes from my Spirit living in you. If my Spirit were not living in you, you would not have that desire. If you were not forgiven and cleansed of your sins and free from condemnation my Spirit would not be living in you. But now my Spirit is leading you. Yes, he is. There is now no condemnation for me. I have been forgiven and cleansed of all my sins. That’s right.

Lord, all my faith is in you. I have turned from my old life of sin to follow you. You are my Savior and Lord. Thank you for giving me a new life of being led by your Spirit and free from any condemnation over my sin now and forever. Amen
