Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Promises – Day 182 – Psalm 119:41-48 – Walk In Freedom – Growing As Disciples
LORD, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me. Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in your word. Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for your regulations are my only hope. I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever. I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed. How I delight in your commands! How I love them! I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees. Psalm 119:41-48 (NLT)
Walk In Freedom
Do you want to walk in freedom that I have secured for you? Do you want to live the life of salvation that I have given to you? Yes, I want to walk in freedom. Yes, I want to live the life of salvation you have given to me. What must I do If I want to walk and freedom and live the life of salvation you have given to me? Continue to do what you have done and what you have been doing. What have I done? What have I been doing? I know that you know the answers to both those questions. Usually, I will not answer questions when you already know the answers to them. But in this case, I will make an exception. I know that you want to hear what I have to say to you. My words to you will encourage you. My words will lift you up. It will be my delight to life you up and encourage you. Are you ready? Yes, I am ready. Speak to me, I am listening. You have my full attention. That’s good. On the day that you asked me to be your Savior and Lord you turned your life and all its management over to me. You left your old life behind and began to live the completely new life that I gave you to live. Have you done this perfectly? Certainly not. Have you taken missteps, made mistakes and sinned? Certainly yes. But you have asked for and received my forgiveness and cleansing. You have kept on moving forward with me over all these many years. How do my words sound so far? Very encouraging and uplifting. Keep on moving forward with me. Yes, I will. That is very good. There is something else that you have been doing and must continue to do. What’s that? You have been allowing my word to dwell in you richly. You have been allowing my word to change your heart, transform your mind, and guide your life. You have been allowing my word to set up boundaries to guard and protect your life. You have allowed my word to make it possible for you to live in the freedom that I have secured for you. Keep on taking my word into your heart and mind and life as you live the life of salvation, I have given to you. Yes, I will! That will be very good.
Lord, thank you for the salvation I have in you. You have helped me to leave my old life behind. You have given me a new life to live. Use your word to change my heart and transform my mind. Guard my life by your word so that I can walk in freedom with you. Amen
