My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6 (NLT)
Treasure
There is no greater treasure. There is no greater treasure than what? There is no greater treasure than your words. I treasure your words more than silver or gold. There is no hidden treasure in this world that rivals the value of your words. From you comes wisdom and understanding and sight. As I treasure your words, as I tune into what you have to say, I am in reverent awe. As I listen attentively to you, you make me able to come to know you better. Is there anything more important? Is there anything more valuable? No, certainly not.
Tell me how you are listening attentively to me? Tell me how you are tuning your heart and mind and life to what I have to say to you? How are you developing the ability to hear from me? Those are very good questions for me to consider. The answers to those questions, I must always keep before me. Why is that? This is a noisy world. Life is busy. Life is distracting. What is of little value screams for my attention. What will be of no benefit often places demands on my time. Focusing my heart and mind and life on you requires a firm commitment. Developing the ability to hear you does not come easily or naturally to me. If I want to hear from you, I need to seek you with all my heart. If I want to receive your wisdom and understanding and insight, I need to cry out for it. I need to desire to hear from you above silver or gold or any hidden treasure. Where will this happen? Where will I go? What will I do? I will withdraw from the noise and busyness of this life. I will separate myself from the world. I will quiet myself before you. I will meet with you in stillness, far away from the crowd. Then and there, I will listen attentively to you. Then and there, my heart and mind and life will be entirely tuned in and focused on you. Then and there, you will speak to me. Then and there, you will help me to come to know and love and follow and serve you. Then and there, I will receive wisdom and understanding and insight from you. That is the treasure I seek. I want to know and love and follow and serve you. There is no better treasure. That is what I want. That is what you will receive. Thank you, Heavenly Father.
Heavenly Father, I will listen attentively to you. I will leave the noise and busyness of life so I can hear from you. I will tune my heart and mind and life to you. Give me your wisdom and understanding and insight so that I will be able to come to know you better. Amen
