Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – Becoming Like Christ – Day 189 – Isaiah 41:13 – Do Not Fear, I Will Help You – Growing As Disciples

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

Hold On

Do not Fear. Hold on to me. I am holding on to you. Yes, you will go through twists and turns and ups and downs in life. You live in a sin broken world. I went through pain and suffering and difficulty. You will go through pain and suffering and difficulty.  I will be with you to help you. You can rely on me. For that I am thankful beyond measure. That is very good.

It is important that you know one thing and do one thing. Can you guess what that would be? Yes, I don’t need to guess. Why is that? You have already told me. What have I told you? You have told me that you are with me. You will help me. You will hold on to me. I must never forget that. That’s right. What must you do? I must hold on to you. I must draw near to you. I must come to rely on you. I must place all my faith and hope and trust in you. You will hold on to me. You will bring me through every difficulty. Yes, I will. You can count on me.

There is something that I have learned as I have looked back over my life. What’s that? I have more clearly seen how you have been with me to help me. I have been able to recognize how you have held on to me. I have come to understand how you have brought me through all the twists and turns and ups and downs of life. That is very good.

There is something else I have learned as you have brought me through difficulties in life. What’s that? Our relationship has grown more intimate as you have held on to me and I have held on to you. That’s true. I know without a doubt and without hesitation that I wouldn’t trade a pain free, smooth sailing life for the intimacy that we have between us because I have learned to hold on to you as you have held on to me. I have come to know you more intimately as I have cried out to you for help. I have come to walk more closely with you as you have helped me through every difficulty in life. Yes, you have. That is very good. Yes, it is and for that I am also thankful beyond measure. I will trust you. I will rely on you. I will place all my faith in you. You will be with me to help me. Yes, I will. Thank you. Lord.

Lord, I have gone through many twists and turns and ups and downs in life. I have been in fearful situations. You have never left me alone. You have been with me to help. Thank you for taking me by the right hand and leading me through every difficulty in life. Amen

Takes Hold Of Your Right Hand

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - God The Father - Isaiah 41:13 - Takes Hold Of Your Right Hand - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide- God The Father – Isaiah 41:13 – Takes Hold Of Your Right Hand – Growing As Disciples

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

Hold On

Hold on. Hold on to what? Hold on to me. Take a hold of my hand. Is there a reason that I will need to hold on to you? Yes, there will be a whole host of reasons that you will need to hold on tightly to me. You are in for the ride of your life. Your life will not be dull. You will not be bored. You will not sleep walk through a bland and dreary life. You will encounter twists and turns. You will experience ups and downs. You will go through challenges. You will face difficulties. You will climb high. You will travel low. You will go where you did not expect to go. You will do what you did not plan on doing. You will be filled with wonder. You will encounter doubt. You will be challenged by fear. You will grow in your faith as you hold on to me. You will never be alone. I will be with you. I will help you. I will lead you through life. You can count on me. Then, I will hold on tightly to you. That will be very good.

Let’s talk a little more about holding on to me. As you hold on to me what do you think you will receive from me? As I hold on to you I will receive your guidance. I will hear your voice. I will listen to your instructions. I will follow your direction. I will go where you guide me. I will do what you ask of me. What else? I will receive whatever I need in life as I hold on to you. Like what? As I hold on to you I will be encouraged and strengthened. I will be revived and refreshed. You will help me to know and do your will. You will make me able to accomplish your purposes and plans. I will be able to go and do what you have planned for me to do for you. Why is that? As I hold on to you, I will see what you are doing. I will join you in the work that you are giving me to do. I will live the life that you are calling me to live. That’s right.

What will you let go of as you hold on to me? As I hold on to you, I will let go of my own wisdom and understanding. I will stop relying on myself. I let go of trusting in my own gifts, talents and abilities. I will rely on you for all that I need. You will give me your wisdom and understanding. You will give me ability. You will be my strength as I hold on to you. Yes, I will.

Heavenly Father, I need you to take a hold of my hand right now. I can’t walk through life all alone. Thank you that your hand gives me all I need just when I need it. I love and trust you. It is so good that my life is in your hands. Amen
