Be Imitators Of God

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Day 19 - Ephesians 5:1-2 - Be Imitators Of God - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Day 19 – Ephesians 5:1-2 – Be Imitators Of God – Growing As Disciples

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2 (ESV)

Like You

I know that I am your child. You called me to come to you. You rescued me from a life without you. I was headed in completely the wrong direction. I was on a path that led away from you. I was living and walking in darkness. You turned my life around. You set me on firm ground. You made it so I could live in a relationship with you. Now, I can hear your voice. You are calling me to go deeper. You are asking me to walk closer to you. Yes, I am. I welcome your call on my life. I want what you want. I know that I have said that many times. It is true. I want to know you intimately. I want to become like you. Then we both want the same thing. Yes, I know. I yearn to be like you. There is nothing I want more. I invite you to do your work in my life. I have taken you up on that invitation. You have given me this invitation many times. Yes, I know. I don’t mind saying it over and over again. I don’t mind hearing you say it again and again. Your wholehearted invitation for me to work in your life gives me great joy. I am very glad about that.  In every way I want to do what pleases you. Yes, I know.

You do know who you will become like? You do know who is your example and role model? Yes, I know. Your son, Jesus Christ, is my example and role model. As I love, follow, and serve you, I will become like Him. He was a fragrant and sacrificial offering to you. I also want my life to be a fragrant and sacrificial offering to you. He lived His life motivated by His love for you. Yes, He did. I also will live my life motivated by my love for you. I love you with all my heart, and soul, and mind, and strength. Sometimes, I feel like I am going to burst because I feel so full of love for you. That is very good. I want to love like He loved. I want to give like He gave. I want to live as He lived. That is why I am here now in this quiet place. As I draw near to you, I know that you will draw near to me. Yes, I will. That is a certainty. I know that you will make me more and more like you as I am in your presence and near to you. Yes, I will. You cannot remain unchanged as you draw near to me. That is what I will keep on doing as I love, follow, and serve you. That will be very good.

God, as your child I want to become like you. I want to know you. I want to walk in your ways. With your help, I will follow your son Jesus Christ as my example. I will love like He loved. I will give like He gave. I want my life to be a fragrant offering to you. Amen

Key Question…  How are you following Jesus Christ as your example of how to imitate God and walk in His love?

Stand Firm

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - 1 Corinthians 15:58 - Day 18 - Stand Firm - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – 1 Corinthians 15:58 – Day 18 – Stand Firm – Growing As Disciples

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.                   1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

Go All Out

Go all out. Give yourself fully to my work. Don’t hesitate. Don’t hold back. Move forward with me. Follow me to where I lead you. Do all that I ask of you. Will you do this for me? Yes Lord, I will go all out to serve you. I will hold nothing in reserve. I will not hold back. I will not hesitate. I will not retreat. I will move forward with you. I know that you will give me the power and strength to do all that you are calling me to do for you. Yes, I will. I know that my labor for you will never be in vain. I know that it would be impossible for me to misspend my life in serving you. You will help me to bear an abundance of fruit for your kingdom. You will help me to bring glory to your name. Yes, I will. There is no place I would rather go than to where you are leading me. There is nothing I would rather do than all that what you ask of me. Why are you so willing to wholeheartedly serve me? I am willing to serve you not because I should or must. I am willing to serve you because I love you with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. Doing anything less than an all-out effort or anything else than serving you has no appeal to me. I want to do what you want me to do for you. I want to know you. I want to walk in your ways. I can see that.

What makes you so certain? Why are you so sure that your life will never be misspent serving me? Why will nothing move you? Why will nothing prevent you from going all out to serve me? I know who you are. I know what you have done for me. Tell me who I am. Tell me what I have done for you. You are my Savior and Lord. You lived and died for me. You gave your all for me. Yes, I did. I want to give my all for you. I also know my future. What is your future? One day I will come to live forever in heaven with you. That’s right. I also know that you will want me to tell you what I have done with my life. You will want to see the fruit that I have born for your kingdom. You will want to see that I have brought glory to your name. You will want to tell me that I have done well as your good and faithful servant. Yes, I will. That is why I am going all out for you now. That is very good.

Lord, thank you for the certainty that one day I will come to live forever in heaven with you. Right now, in this life, I will go all out to serve you. I will not work only for the rewards of this life. I want to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Amen

Key Question…  What work has the Lord given you to do for Him so you can bear fruit for Him and bring glory to His name?

Living It Out…  Go all out in serving the Lord because you know that your work for Him will bear fruit for His kingdom.

Seeing It Happen…  Have faith that the work you do for the Lord in this life will never be meaningless or go to waste.

Prayer To Bless Others…  May you give yourself fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your efforts will never be in vain.

Fasted And Prayed

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days of Guidance - Acts 13:2-3 - Fasted And Prayed - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days of Guidance – Acts 13:2-3 – Fasted And Prayed – Growing As Disciples

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. Acts 13:2-3 (NIV)

Calling

Do you want to know my calling on your life? Do you want to know where I want to send you? Do you want to know what I want to give you to do for me? Do you want to accomplish my purposes? Do you want to fulfill my plans? Do you want to bear an abundance of fruit for me? Do you want to bring glory to my name? Do you want to shine brightly for me as my witness in the world? You have asked me many questions for which I have only one answer. I want what you want. With all my heart and mind and soul and strength I will say one emphatic yes to each one of your questions. Without any hesitation, I want to know and do your will. I want to accomplish your purposes and fulfill your plans. I want you to use my life as your instrument. I want to bear and abundance of fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. In every way, on every day, I want to shine brightly as a witness for you in the world. I will go wherever you send me. I will do whatever you ask of me. I will not hold back. I will keep nothing in reserve. I will not hedge my bets. I will not retreat. I will give myself fully to you. I want to do the work that you have prepared in advance for me to do. That is very good.

But, I know that you have a few questions that you want to ask me. Go ahead, ask your questions. How will I know for certain where you want to send me? How will I know without a doubt what you have given me to do for you? Seek me with all your heart. Quiet yourself before me. Meet with me in my word. Meet with me in worship. Meet with in prayer. Focus your heart and mind and life on me. Draw near to me and I will draw near to you. Fast and pray. Hunger and thirst. Give me your full attention. When you seek me with all your heart, you will find me. I will lead you to where I want you to go. I will give you what I want you to do. When you follow me, you know for certain where I am leading you. When you listen to me, you have no doubt about what I have given you to do for me. I will follow you. I will listen to you. That will be very good.

Lord, I want to know your calling on my life. I want to go where you want to send me. I want to do what you are asking me to do for you. I will fast and pray before you. I will quiet myself in your presence. I will seek your guidance. I will follow your direction. Amen

Key Question… When have you fasted and prayed so that you could know and do the Lord’s will?

Living It Out… Fast and pray so that you will be able to know what God is calling you to go and do for Him.

Seeing It Happen… Have faith that the Lord has a calling on your life.

Get Ready To Share… Share with another person or your small group what the Lord is calling you to do for Him.

Prayer To Bless Others…  May you fast and pray so you will know what God is calling you to go and do for Him.

The Lord Require Of You

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Micah 6:8 - The Lord Require Of You - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Micah 6:8 – The Lord Require Of You – Growing As Disciples

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Your Example

I don’t know where I’d be without your example. What do you mean by that? I wouldn’t know how to live a good life. I wouldn’t know what to think. I wouldn’t know what to say. I wouldn’t know where to go. I know you will never give me a step by step road map for my life. You have given me something far better. You have given me your example to follow. Tell me more about that. Simply by closely observing your life I have a very clear picture of how I want to live my life.

How do you want to live your life? I want to live my life in ways that please you. I want to go where you went. I want to do what you did. Where did I go? What did I do? You lived a humble life. You were not self-sufficient. You were not self-reliant. You were not self-centered. You had a direction. You had purpose. You had a mission. What was my direction. What was my purpose? What was my mission? You wanted to know and do what pleased your Heavenly Father. You didn’t want to do your own thing. You didn’t want to have your own way. You did what your Heavenly Father required of you. What was that? What will be required of you? I will be required to walk in humility. Walking in humility is the only way that I can live a life that is pleasing to God. Walking in humility is the only way that I can live the life I am being called to live. Walking in humility is the example you have set before me. That’s true.

What else will be required of you? What other examples have I set before you? I will be required to act justly. What does that mean? I’m not positive. I know that I won’t be able to walk indifferently past injustice in the world around me anymore. No, you won’t. I’m sure that you will want me to keep my eyes and ears open to you. You will show me how to act justly in the world around me. Yes, I will.

What else will be required of you? What is another example that I have set before you? You have loved me. You have loved me when I was unlovable. You have not given me what I deserve. You have given me what I did not deserve. Instead of judgement you gave me mercy. Instead of condemnation you gave me forgiveness and salvation. Yes, I did. Will you love others as I have loved you? Will you extend to others the same mercy that I have shown to you? Yes Lord, I will. That will be very good.

Lord, thank you for showing me what is good. I want to follow your example. I want to live the kind of life that you lived. I will do what you require of me. I will act justly. I will love mercy. I will walk humbly with you in all that I think, say and do as I follow you. Amen

Key Question…  When have you allowed the Lord to use you to eliminate injustice in the world around you?

Living It Out…  Walk humbly with the Lord so you can act justly and love mercy.

Seeing It Happen…  Have faith that the Lord will help you to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.

Get Ready To Share…  Share with another person or your small group how you act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord.

Prayer To Bless Others…  May you act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord.

Not Running Aimlessly

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 - Not Running Aimlessly - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 – Not Running Aimlessly – Growing As Disciples

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NIV)

Olympic Effort

Your life of faith is like a race. Do you want to run well as you follow me? Are you running your race of faith with a desire to win? Yes, I want to run well as I follow you. Yes, I am running to win. I don’t want anything to distract me. I won’t look left or right or behind me. My eyes will look straight forward as I follow you. I know you will help me to run the race of faith. I know you will make me able to win the race of faith. Yes, I will.

What might distract you on your race of faith? What might hinder you from running well? Things that are of this world might hinder me from running well. Like what? The lust of the flesh might hinder me from running well. I will need to make sure that lustful and fleshly desires don’t pull me off course and prevent me from running well. I will need to separate myself from any situations and circumstances that might powerfully tempt me. That’s true. What else? The lust of the eyes might hinder me from running well. I will need to be very careful about what I allow my eyes to see. Many times I have wanted what I couldn’t have or certainly didn’t need. I will need to stop looking at whatever might allure and entice to want what I don’t have and don’t need. That’s right. What else? The pride of life might hinder me from running well. I will need to be very careful that I am not attracted and drawn to prideful things in life.  Like what? I have been tempted by power and prestige. I have wanted to be someone that does great things. These desires can lead me down the wrong path and take me off the course you have laid out for me. Yes, They can. You will do well to be on guard against any of these evils. You are right. They do have the potential to hinder you from running and finishing well in the race of faith.

How are you in training as you follow me? Are you giving an Olympic effort in your training as you follow and serve me? I’m not sure. I do know that I am fully available to whatever training you have in mind for me. I will go anywhere you guide me. I will do whatever you ask of me. I am meeting with you daily in your word. I know that you are teaching and training me. If you have more in mind, I will welcome it with all my heart and mind and soul and strength. I am at your service. I am running hard in my life of faith as I follow you. Yes, you are running hard and well. I do have more in mind for you. Follow me. Yes Lord, I will.

Lord, I have entered the race. I love you with all my heart and soul and mind and strength. You are my Savior and Lord. I am in training as I follow and serve you. Let nothing distract me from running well. Let nothing disqualify me from receiving the prize. Amen

Key Question…  What are distractions might prevent you from running well as a follower of Jesus Christ?

Living It Out…  Train hard and run well as a follower of Jesus Christ so nothing will disqualify you at the finish line.

Seeing It Happen… Have faith that the Lord will help you to run to win the race of faith as you love, follow, and serve Him.

Get Ready To Share… Share with another person or your small group how you are in rigorous training as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Prayer To Bless Others… May you go into rigorous training so you can run well as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Do Not Be Foolish

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Ephesians 5:15-17 - Do Not Be Foolish - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Ephesians 5:15-17 – Do Not Be Foolish – Growing As Disciples

Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.  Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV)

It’s About Time

You have been given time. Time is a gift from me. You will be wise if you are very careful how you live your life. You will be considered wise if you make good use of the time, I have given to you. Are you being very careful how you live your life? Are you making the very best use of your time? Are these questions that you have taken time to sit down to consider? No, I don’t think so. I may have vaguely thought of these questions as I have gone through life. But I have never taken time to sit down to closely examine how I am living my life and using my time. It’s about time, don’t you think? Yes, it is about time. It’s past time. But it’s not too late. That’s good.

There is a huge problem, however. What’s that? I’m pretty sure that I am not a very good judge of how I am living my life and using my time. Why do you say that? I have made so many mistakes. I have wasted so much time. If I have any hope of wisely living my life and making the best use of my time, I will need a lot of help. I will need your help. Are you asking me for my help? Yes, I am asking you for help. My help will come to you in proportion to how well you listen to me. I’m not exactly sure what you mean. You will still need to take time to sit down to evaluate how you are living your life and using your time. You will ask the questions, but the answers will come from me. How is that? How do I speak to you? What have I given to you so you can hear from me? You have given me your word. You speak to me through your word. Yes, I do. My word will help you to evaluate your life and how you are using your time.  Spend time with me in my word and you will grow wise in how you live your life and how you use your time. What else have I given to you? You have given me your Holy Spirit. Yes, my Holy Spirit is living inside of you. As you listen to the voice of my Holy Spirit, you will know where to go and what to do. My Holy Spirit will help you to live the life that I have called you to live. My Holy Spirit will help you to wisely make the best us of the time you have been given. Will you listen to my word? Will you listen to my Holy Spirit? Yes Lord, I will.

Lord, help me to examine how I am living my life and using the time you have given to me. Help me to know and do your will as I follow and serve you. I want each one of my days to be wisely used to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Amen

Key Question…  When do you take time to closely examine how you are living your life?

Living It Out…  Carefully examine how you are living your life and using your time as you follow and serve the Lord.

Seeing It Happen…  Have faith that the Lord will help you to know and do His will so that you will not act foolishly.

Get Ready To Share…  Share with another person or your small group how the Lord has helped you to know and do His will.

Prayer To Bless Others… May you understand what the will of the Lord is so that you do not act foolishly.

Humble Yourself Under God’s Mighty Hand

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Day 13 - 1 Peter 5:6 - Humble Yourselves Under God's Mighty Hand - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Day 13 – 1 Peter 5:6 – Humble Yourselves Under God’s Mighty Hand – Growing As Disciples

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.   1 Peter 5:6 (NIV)

Humility

Do you want my blessing to be on your life? Do you want my favor to rest on you? Do you want my mighty hand to lift you up? Yes, I want your blessing and favor to be on my life. I do want your mighty hand to lift me up. Are you willing to clothe yourself with humility? I’m not sure what you mean. Let’s talk about pride. I’m listening.

You have been filled with pride. You have held a very high opinion of yourself. It has been difficult for you to submit yourself to others. You have followed your own thoughts, opinions, and values. You have felt no need to listen to anyone. You have been guided by your own wisdom and strength. You have developed your own dreams and desires. You have had your own mission and vision. You have done your own thing. Isn’t that true? Yes, I have followed my own plan for much of my life. How about now? Now, I want to hear all that you have to say to me. Now, I am open to hearing you speak through wise people that you have placed in my life. Now, I don’t want my own plan. I want your plan. I have set aside my will to do your will. I have set aside my ways to follow your ways. I want to know and do your will. Yes, I can see that in you.

It takes humility to set aside your will and ways for my will and ways. It takes humility to come to listen to all that I have to say to you. It takes humility to know my will and walk in my ways. If you are full of yourself you will never receive all that I have for you. If you are filled with pride you will never receive my blessing. I oppose the proud and give my grace to the humble. Here I am. I’m listening. I am humbly waiting for your guidance. I want your wisdom. I am seeking your direction. I will go where you guide me. I will do all that you ask of me. I want your blessing on my life. I want to live in your favor. I will humbly live my life before you. I will wait till your mighty hand lifts me up in your due time. Give me patience.  Show me how to clothe myself in humility as I follow and serve you. I will hear and answer these prayers of yours.

Key Question…  How are you clothing yourself with humility so you can live your life with and for God?

Living It Out…  Humble yourself under God’s mighty hand so that He will lift you up in His due time.

Seeing It Happen…  Have faith that the Lord will lift you up in His due time as you humble yourself under His mighty hand.

Get Ready To Share…  Share with another person or your small group how you are living humbly before God as you follow and serve Him.

Prayer To Bless Others… May you humble yourself under God’s hand so He can lift you up in His due time.

Lord, I know that pride is an issue for me. I have been filled with pride. I have had a very high view of myself. Forgive me. Help me to live and walk in humility before you. Help me to clothe myself in humility as I follow and serve you. Lift me up in your due time. Amen

The Counselor

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Day 12 - John 14:26 - The Counselor - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Day 12 – John 14:26 – The Counselor – Growing As Disciples

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:25-26 (NIV)

Recognize And Respond

Slow down. Expect to hear from me. Listen attentively. Watch and wait for my activity. I’m not sure what you are saying to me. Can you make what you are saying clearer to me? Yes, I can. Let me ask you a couple questions. Go right ahead, I’m listening. How would you describe the pace of your life? I live a hectic life. It seems like I’m always racing from one thing to another. Sometimes, I have a hard time even catching my breath. I feel weary and worn out. I need to slow down. I need some rest. I can see that. How would you describe the noise level of your life? What do you mean by that? Do you have blocks of time or even moments here and there when and where you are quietly waiting for my instructions? Not really. Are you making time to hear from me? No, I’m not. If I were to quietly speak to you, would you hear me above the noise of your own life? I doubt it. Those are honest answers.

Would it surprise you to learn that I am trying to speak to you every day? No, not really. Would you be shocked to learn that I want to speak to you in the seconds and minutes and hours and days of your life? I have suspected as much. No, I wouldn’t be shocked. Would you be sad to learn that you race right on by most of what I am trying to say to you? Yes, I would be very sad about that. Now, you have my full attention. I’m sure that you can recall many times when you failed to recognize and respond to what I was trying to show you? Yes, I can. What has happened to you when you have failed to recognize and respond to what I have wanted to teach you? When I have failed to recognize and respond to your voice I have usually taken an action that has gotten me into trouble. I have made serious mistakes. I have made major missteps. I have wasted large amounts of time. I have deeply regretted not recognizing and responding to your wise counsel. That’s right. What do you now want to do differently? I want to slow down and take time to recognize and respond to all that you want to teach me. I want to put into practice all that you are showing me. Will you listen attentively to my voice? Yes, I will listen attentively to your voice. Will you set aside a time and a place to meet with me? Yes, I will. Then I will remind you to remember and put into practice all that you have heard and learned and received in Christ. That will be very good. Yes, it will.

Holy Spirit, thank you for being my teacher. I am your full-time student. I will listen attentively to all you want to teach me. Remind me of all I need to remember and put into practice. Counsel me so I will live my life faithfully and fruitfully for the glory of God. Amen

Walk In Him

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance Day 11 - Colossians 2:6-7 - So Walk In Him - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance Day 11 – Colossians 2:6-7 – So Walk In Him – Growing As Disciples

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV)

Vitally Connected

You have received me into your life. I am your Savior and Lord. That’s right. What does receiving me as your Savior and Lord mean to you? You have given me a new life to live. My old life is dead and gone. Now I will live my life with and for you. I will live as you lived. I will walk as you walked. My new life will look and be completely different from my old life. I am a changed person on the inside and out. Yes, you are.

Keep walking with me. I will be working in and through you as you follow me. It is true that you were made new on the first day that you received me into your life. You were set apart for my purposes. But, my work in and through your life will be ongoing and new every day. Yes, Lord I will walk close to you. I will follow you wherever you lead me. I will do whatever you ask of me.

Let your roots grow deep in me. Receive your nourishment from me. Drink deeply of all that I have for you. Come to me for all that you will need. Your journey through life will be exhausting. Let me revive and refresh your life. Come to rest in my presence. Let me restore your soul. Yes, Lord I will draw near to you. I know that you will also draw near to me. Yes, I will draw near to you.

Make me the sure foundation of your life. Let yourself be built up in me. Build your life on my word. Listen attentively to all that I have to say to you. Don’t be distracted. Don’t be swayed. Don’t follow the world and all that it has to offer. Don’t allow yourself to race after what will not satisfy or sustain you. Don’t seek security in what will never bring you peace. Trust in me. I will guard and guide you through life. I am your future and your hope. One day you will come to live forever in heaven with me. Yes, I will. I look forward to that day.

Let me establish you in your faith. Trust in me through all the storms of life. Hang on to me. I will hang on to you. I will never let you go. I will never leave you. I will never forsake you. You are my child. I have you in the palm of my hand. Take refuge in me. Have faith in me. Yes Lord, all my faith is in you. I will hang on to you. I will take refuge in you. You are my shelter in every storm. Yes, I am.

Lord, thank you for all that I have received in you. You have helped me to remain vitally connected to you. You have made it so my faith could be rooted, established, and strengthened as I live my life with and for you. I will keep on following you. Amen

The Way Of The Righteous

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide - 365 Days Of Guidance - Day 10 Psalm 1:1- 6 - The Way Of The Righteous - Growing As Disciples

Discipleship Devotional Study Guide – 365 Days Of Guidance – Day 10 Psalm 1:1- 6 – The Way Of The Righteous – Growing As Disciples

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.  Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1:1-6 (NIV)

Without Regrets

Do you want me to bless your life? Do you want to bear fruit for my kingdom? Do you want to bring glory to my name? Do you want to live the life that I have called you to live? Do you want to live a life that you will never regret? Do you want to live a life that is pleasing to me? Do you want to hear me say, “Well done, good and faithful servant?” Lord, you know me. You know the desires of my heart. You know the thoughts of my mind. I want all these things to be true of me. I want to live my life faithfully and fruitfully for you. I want to wholeheartedly follow and obey you. I want to bear an abundance of fruit for your kingdom. I want to bring glory to your name. I want to shine like a star in the universe for you. I want others to be drawn to you because they see your life being lived out in and through me. Am I living in this way in all that I think and say and do? Am I on the cusp of all these things being true of me? Am I always thinking and speaking and acting in ways that are pleasing to you? Not hardly. Not close. Not by a long shot. So, what will you do? Will you give up and quit? Will you walk down a different path? No, not a chance. Just the opposite, I will draw near to you. I will come to meet with you in your word. I will listen attentively to all that you have to say to me. I will allow you to use your word to keep on transforming my heart and mind and life. I will allow you to use your word to mold and shape me. I will allow you to use your word to guard and guide me. I will meditate on your word day and night so that I can continue walking with you on the path of life. I know that as I continue coming to you, as I rest in your presence, as I rely on you, I will be changed. Day by day, moment and moment, you will make me to be more like you. You will work in and through me. You will accomplish your purposes and plans for me. You will make me able to live the life you have called me to live. You will make me able to bear fruit for your kingdom and bring glory to your name. Yes, I will. Keep drawing me to me. Keep meeting with me in my word. Keep on meditating on my word day and night as you continue to separate yourself from evil. Then you will live a life without regrets. That is what I will do. That will be very good.

Lord, I will set apart a time and place to meet with you in your word. I will listen attentively to you. I will meditate on your word day and night. Use your word to transform my heart and mind and life. Make me fruitful and help me to bring glory to your name. Amen

Key Question…  How crucial is meditating on God’s word to your continuing to walk on the path the Lord will bless?

Living It Out…  Distance yourself from evil of every kind as you continue to hear and obey God’s word.

Seeing It Happen…  Have faith that God will bless your life and make you fruitful for Him as you hear and obey His word.

Get Ready To Share…  Share with another person or your small group how you are meditating on God’s word and putting it into practice.

Prayer To Bless Others… May you distance yourself from evil as you meditate on God’s word day and night.
